Get Your Glow On

Hello lovelies, so I posted this selfie the other day on Instagram and got quite a few comments on how good my skin looked, so I thought I would share with you what I used. My skin is by no means perfect so that was a major compliment. I have been absolutely obsessed with my new Rachel K CC renew cream in light, (review here ) it is just the perfect accompaniment to mineral powder. There is something about Bareminerals, matte in particular that photographs beautifully. It never looks shiny in photos or overly made up. Used in conjunction with the CC cream you get the right amount of hold and coverage that will last all day without the need for touch ups. It's glowy, soft focus, natural looking makeup that is so quick and easy to apply. I feel more myself with less makeup up on.

New Rachel K CC Renew Cream

Hello lovelies. Todays post is about the new and improved Rachel K CC Cream. Rachel K is a makeup and skincare brand from Singapore created by beauty queen and Miss Universe Rachel Kum.
CC cream is a more refined version of the BB cream, its complete anti-age skincare and complexion correction in one.

Rachel K CC Renew instantly corrects and repairs skin damage with a list of anti-oxidant properties and natural ingredients.
It has a sheer to medium coverage, comes in three shades, very light, light and medium. It has SPF 30 and it good for all skin types.

Basically you get all this in one tube! Amazing right?!

Paraben Free                Dullness                            Deep Sea Water
Oil Free                        Blemishes                         Shea Butter
No Talc                        Pigmentation/age spots     Macadamia Nut Oil
No Sulphates                Blotchy patches                EGF (growth factor that stimulates cell growth)

Since the launch of Rachel K CC cream in 2010, global brands worldwide have launched their own version of the CC cream but none could ever rival this one in my eyes. It became popular by word of mouth rather than ad campaigns, which is so true because I first heard about it from the lovely LisaLisaD1 from youtube and was amazed at how good Lisa's skin looked after she had applied it. I had to have it immediately! I have the shade light and the shade neutral in the old version. I primarily use this under my foundation as my skincare and primer. Its works beautifully in conjunction with mineral makeup too.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows & Gel Liner

Hello lovelies. So I finally caved and purchased some must have shadows from Marlena, beauty guru of all beauty gurus, creator of Makeup Geek. I had heard so much about the quality and value of Marlena's makeup through other you tubers, I just had to try them. I must say they are pretty impressive.

The colours I purchased starting from the top right are: Crème Brulee, Moondust, Shimma Shimma and Brown Sugar. These are just the most gorgeous colours and are highly pigmented. The quality is outstanding! I purchased the Z palette from her site too and I love it!! The last thing I got was one of her gel eyeliners in the colour Rave. I use this as a cream shadow base as well as a liner.
I think these are great value for money and comparable to MAC and I will definitely be trying out more products in the future. You do have to pay a customs charge if you live in the UK so do be aware when purchasing online. Check out Marlena's YouTube channel here and her online store here

Winter Skin Savers

Winter is upon us and its only going to get colder brrrrrrr! Now is the time to really bump up your skincare to really nourish your skin from head to toe. Our poor faces take the brunt of the cold ( unless you re wearing a balaclava) going from warm and cosy central heating to icy cold winds is going to play havoc on your skin. It's important to change up your skincare to suit your current needs. I'm super oily most of the year, but as soon as winter hits, my face and body dry up like a prune. I switch my daily fluid moisturiser for oily skin to a richer cream for dry skin. My cleanser stays the same as its perfect all year round! ( yes ofcourse its Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish) After my night-time cleansing I like to add a face oil for extra comfort and repair. My favourite is Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate this is fab for all skin types, contains 100% pure plant oils to re balance skin while you sleep. This really plumps up skin making it feel supple and fresh. This smells amazing and helps me relax before bed.
For my body, especially my legs, I have been using Nivea Rescue & Care 48h body lotion. This calms my itchy, dry skin making it feel smooth and nourished. It's not greasy or gloopy, it absorbs instantly into my skin. This is very good if you've just shaved your legs! No stinging! It is fragrance free too.

My lips are the worst at this time of year, they get so dry and cracked. Aquaphor Lip Repair is the only lip treatment that actually soothes my lips. I only need to use this twice a day it's that good! Other lip balms work temporarily but this actually improves the condition of my lips. I can not be with out it!

What products do you like to use in the winter months?

Makeup for Work & Job Interviews

Hello lovelies, I though I would share my current makeup routine, its so quick and the results are flawless! Today a colleague said I look fresh! Exactly what I was going for! This is perfect for work in corporate environments or for an interview.
In my job I meet and greet important clients daily. I need to look polished and professional at all times. This everyday makeup look is perfect because the client sees you and not your makeup. The same goes for job interviews. If you rock up with blue eyeshadow and neon nails to a law or finance interview you may give off the wrong impression and the attention of the interviewer will be on your makeup and not you as a potential employee. Some people may say well that's me like it or leave but think about it, at home you love wearing your onesie although  you wouldn't wear it to the supermarket because it not appropriate for that environment. You have to be able to adjust to different situations and environments professionally without compromising your personality.

So here is what I have been using-

I have totally fallen inlove with my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush, this blends my makeup like a dream in two seconds flat! It gives the perfect amount of coverage and a seamless finish.
I have been using Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in shade 4.0, now I don't know if my skin has gone dry or its the weather, but this has been holding up really well and not getting oily at all! I use the Rachel K CC cream in neutral underneath which acts a primer, it really does make your skin smooth and silky.Concealer of choice is Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in light, I am loving this, I use it practically all over my face as a highlight. I then finish with my trusty Rimmel Stay Matte powder in 001 translucent. My blush of the moment is Nars Deepthroat *giggle giggle* it just warms up my skin with a hint of sparkle, I always get compliments when I'm wearing this. I don't really do bronzer in winter so one less thing to fuss about on early mornings.
On my eyes I have been using MAC paint in bare canvas, this just cancels out any redness on my eyelids and makes me look a bit more awake.
For lips I usually go for the nearest lipstick at hand, usually a pink.

From Desk to Dancefloor in 5 Easy Steps

Hello lovelies! It's that time of year again where Christmas drinks and parties are upon us. So I've put together five super easy steps to glam up your work face and be party ready in no time!

I know the feeling, you've been up since 6am, your face has gone through near enough nine hours already with makeup clinging on for dear life. You've got dinner and drinks after work or a last minute catch up with a friend. You need to freshen up that face pronto!
If you are anything like me in the morning the less I have to do the better! For me its the basics: foundation, concealer, powder, blush, mascara and lipstick. I don't do eyeshadow for work because I frankly can't be bothered nor do I have the time to spare.

Now be careful, what you don't want to do is go and pile on a load more makeup and look like a cakeface or worse unrecognisable to your colleagues! I know Ive made these heinous mistakes
I remember going for dinner with the bf and his old uni friends that I had never met before,  I'm at work putting on more lippy and blush and one of the Partners of the firm said to me  " look at you tarting yourself up" I was mortified! Honestly I don't think I ever touched up my makeup again after that. You really want to only touch up what has disappeared so lips are one of the first to go, then around the nose and mouth. If you are going to a party or drinks play up either your eyes or your lips and add a touch of highlight on your cheekbones and et voila you are ready to party.

Step 1. Freshen up your base. I remember girls taking off all their makeup and starting again from scratch! Ain't nobody got time for that! Blot any oil or excess product that has melted away on your face, spritz with a hydrating facial spray, then lightly powder your T-zone. Choose a long wearing foundation. I use Estee Lauder Doublewear and this does not need touching up at all! If you don't have a long wearing foundation, touch up with a smidgen of concealer or a powder foundation as this will have a bit of coverage rather than just translucent powder.

Step 2. Add some colour. If your blush has faded add the tiniest amount of you what you used that morning use with a stippling brush for the lightest touch, less is more trust me!

Step 3. Highlight those cheekbones and under you brow bone.

Step 4. Eyes: Line with black Kohl and smudge out for a quick smokey effect. Or dab some sparkle pigment on the centre of you lid for a bit of glitz!

Step 5. Lips: Line and fill in your lips, pop on your fave lippie and gloss.

Finish with a final spritz of your favourite setting spray and away you go!

This isn't by any means rules to abide by, it is just what I have tried and works best on me.

What are your tips and tricks for getting face ready after work?

My Must Have Under Eye Concealers

Hello lovelies! It's a dark, cold and dismal day here in London, so when better to talk about dark circles which are ever present in the winter months if not worse.Early mornings, festive parties, generally feeling sluggish can all contribute to under eye issues. I don't have darkness as such, its more like indented circles that I have to fill in and brighten. Now when it comes to an under eye concealer my main gripe is creasing! If it dares to crease its out the door! Its got to be creamy and easy to blend and most of all good pigment to conceal but also brighten so as not to look flat. You want to go at least two shades up from your foundation for dark circles or the same shade for puffy bags. Go for pinky/peachy shades as this will counteract the blue/green in the dark circles.

Starting from the top of my hand:

Collection Lasting Perfection Medium 3

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Light

MAC Prolong Wear nw20

BareMinerals Well Rested

What are some of your go to concealers?

Why Do You Wear Makeup Tag!

Hello lovelies! I saw this on the gorgeous Cali Jae's  blog and just couldn't wait to do it! So here goes!

When did you begin to like makeup?

I would say at around 10 or 11 years old. I was obsessed with the Bonne Bell lipsticks I had one that was frosted brown that smelled of cappachino. Yikes! I started to dabble in foundation in my early teens because I had really bad acne. I would do anything to hide it. I used to use Covergirl clean foundation in the hopes my skin would get better. I loved putting on eyeshadow and blush but I didn't know how to do it properly, I would get so frustrated! So after highschool I decided to go to makeup school and learn all the techniques I had been so desperate to master. After that I tried to go freelance, ( I was only 19) and I remember my first client hating the makeup I did for her, I lost all my confidence at that point and quit! Long story short, I feel confident now thanks to my constant desire to learn and try new products and ofcourse You Tube.

How do you feel without makeup?

Even though my skin is relatively clear now, I still feel like I need something on my face, even if I'm going for coffee or to the supermarket on a Sunday. I usually wear Bareminerals or a BB cream on days off from work. I just feel exposed without anything. Don't get me wrong I have been out bare faced before it just depends on how confident I am feeling about myself that day.

What do you like about makeup?

I love the endless creativity of makeup, all the different colours, textures and effects. The brands and their philosophy behind them, the packaging, how it makes me feel. I love how anything is possible, I can be full on glam one day then beach bronze another. I never stop learning there is always something I haven't tried before or new ways to apply things. I love getting ideas from seasonal trends, TV,magazines and best of all You Tube! I can enhance my best features and hide my flaws. I live and breathe makeup, when I enter a beauty department its like all my Christmas's come at once! I love nothing more than playing with makeup.

                                                          Three holy grail items

Estee Lauder Doublewear Foundation - Dawn 2w1
Rachel K CC Cream- Neutral
Liz Earl Hot Cloth Cleanser

I tag everybody!! yay!!

Cult Classic- Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Hello lovelies! Every now and then I shop my stash and fall back inlove with old favourites I haven't used in yonks! Well this morning I re-introduced my face to the glorious wonder that is Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick. This award winning five bars of luminous colour for cheeks and eyes got us hooked. Many brands followed suite with their own versions but nothing came close to the 'Brick'

There are five shade variations to choose from

Bronze shimmer for a deep bronze glow ( this is my favourite and is the one I'm wearing in the picture below
Pink Quartz - soft, warm pink glow
Nectar - soft coral glow, great in combo with peach tone blushes ( I need to have this!)
Rose Shimmer - soft, rosy glow. Great for pale skinned gals
Beige Shimmer - candlelight glow works well with pink, neutral and peach blush shades

I love how this product is so versatile, the bronze shimmer in particular acts as a bronzer, highlighter and blush all in one! Plus the brush I use with it contours at the same time in one strategic sweep!
I love using this as a sheer wash of colour on the lid as it requires zero blending and really pulls the look together.
This is definitely a must have for summer but I must say its gorgeous for the winter months too because it just brightens up a dull, tired face.

So if you have one, dig it out of your stash and give it a go! You will swoon at the sheer delightfulness of your glowing cheeks!

What have you re-discovered recently that you haven't used in ages?

My Top 5 Setting Powders

Hello lovelies. This post is all about my favourite face powders ever! Being an oily skinned girl, powder is absolutely essential for me to keep my makeup from sliding off throughout the day. I have tried and tested so many powders throughout the years and I have come to the conclusion that these five are the best I've used so far. I will ofcourse never stop trying out new makeup but these will always be in my makeup arsenal. There are so many powders available now that all do different things from hydrating, illuminating, mattifying, invisible etc you just have to look at Hourglass Ambient lighting powders! There is a powder for each part of you face! you may want a moonlit glow one day and a candlelit glow the other. It all depends what you want to achieve with the look of your skin.
For me personally I like a smooth, soft focus, matte finish that will last all day.

Lets get this powder party started!

1. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is the cheapest of the lot at just £3.99 it does exactly what is says on the tin! This powder is super soft and blendable, never cakey or chalky. This is my everyday go to powder. Great value and good quality for a drugstore brand.

2. Double Perfection Compact Natural Matte Powder Makeup which I think has now been reformulated and named Mat Lumiere - Luminous Matte Powder Makeup SPF 10. This retails at around £39 mega expensive but totally worth it. This has to be the smoothest, softest powder I have ever used. It airbrushes your skin to perfection. You can literally pile this on and it will never look cakey. It gives  just beautiful soft and velvety matte skin. This is great if you prefer extra coverage over your foundation.

3. Bareminerals Mineral Veil is so finely milled its practically invisible! This is probably the most light weight finishing powder out there hence the name veil. It really is just like a veil of perfection. It instantly smoothes away pores like magic. Its so light you don't even feel it. I love this for the summertime when its baking outside and you want to have as little as possible on your face. Its great at holding back oil and keeping skin looking fresh.

4. Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural this is a beautiful powder, it has coverage, its matte but not flat as its mineral based, it gives a really nice soft glow that isn't shiny. I love to use this when I want a bit more coverage or to warm up my skin. It feels light, silky smooth and no caking!

5. Last but not least Mac Prep and Prime loose powder- this powder is bright white when you look at it, but totally undetectable on the skin. Super light weight, blurrs pores and keeps skin matte. Mac has recently come out with a compact version which I'm desperate for. This is great if you don't like the feel or look of powder or you foundation is already heavy coverage and you don't want to add anything more to it but just want to keep it in place.

Do you have a powder that is Holy Grail status?

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzer

Hello lovelies. New to my collection something which I have been coveting for ages! Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess in 03 Medium Deep. This is the most luxurious bronzer (apart from chanel de solei) I've ever owned. First of all the packaging is so classy and glamerous, I love the tortoiseshell lid and the box it came in is just pure sunshine. It comes with a rather good size half moon brush. The colour is perfect for light to medium skintones. It's oil free and provides a natural matte finish, perfect for us oily gals! It has a huge mirror which you can see your whole face in brilliant! The texture is super soft and fine. It's so easy to blend, it just glides on effortlessly. You could use this in the summer instead of setting powder its that good at controlling oil. I use it as my contour and as an all over bronzer to warm up my complexion. This is going to be fantastic in the summer to use on shoulders and decolletage as its big enough you don't need a separate bronzer for you body or worry about using up your face bronzing powder. It's an all in one and I absolutely adore it.Thanks Mum :) Teehee
