Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation- New Formula Review

Hello lovelies! Happy Tuesday! Any of you who are die hard fans of Estee Lauder DoubleWear Foundation will know that the formula has changed. The shade range has also changed as 10 new shades have been added, so now there is a whopping 30 shades, problem is, customers are finding that their regular go to shades have altered, making them darker, pinker or orange.
Estee Lauder say they haven't changed the formula, just added more colours to the range!! You can't pull the wool over our eyes! The formula has clearly changed, its nothing like the original DW if anything its similar to DW Light. The texture is much more fluid, not nearly as much coverage and does not hold back shine as well as the original did.
I've been trialing out a ten day sample in the shade Tawny 3w1, I used to wear Sand!

Estee Lauder DoubleWear Stay in place makeup
non stop wear- even through heat and humidity, comfortable, oil free, oil controlling, 15hr staying power, medium, buildable, SPF 10, natural semi matte finish.

Having had the old formula, I noticed the change straight away. Some may welcome the new change, others not so much. I personally found the old formula to be more oil controlling.
The original formula was thicker in consistency and dried to a matte finish on the skin. I never had oil break through with this, never had to blot once.
The new formula's blendability is great and it feels light on the skin but it has a very dewy effect for me. It does not stay matte at all which was the whole purpose of this foundation.

ELDW Original Formula - CONS

  • Thick consistency, dried quickly so had to work fast to blend
  • Tendency to look cakey/chalky if over applied
  • Caused white cast in photographs

                                          PROS

  • Full coverage, covered acne and scars perfectly
  • Oil control, never had a shiny nose
  • Long lasting, stayed put from morning till night
  • Transfer resistant, never rubbed off on clothes or phone

ELDW New Formula - CONS

  • Medium coverage
  • Minimal oil control, I'm shiny by 11am
  • Changes to original shades
  • Transferred while talking on my phone

                                    PROS

  • Easy to blend into the skin
  • Soft focus effect
  • Photographs beautifully
  • Looks natural and fresh
  • Does not get cakey
  • Feels comfortable, like you're wearing nothing on your skin
  • Easy to remove

So, whats the verdict I hear you say? Well, its a beautiful foundation, I like the way it feels and looks on my skin, I only wish it controlled oil like its predecessor. Needless to say I will be purchasing a full sized bottle.

What do you think??

My Top Must Have Bronzers and Blushers

Hello lovelies happy Tuesday!! So today I thought I would share with you my most favourite, simply must have bronzers and blushers. Some are cream and some are powder.

Bronzers

I rotate these beauties all year round I think they are the perfect tones of brown with Benefit Hoola being a little bit cooler (haha nice rhyme) The Bourjois and Chanel De Soleil have a warm light tone that is great for fair skins. Neither of these have any sparkle which I like. I enjoy layering cream and powder textures for a long lasting finish, this really locks in your make-up.

Cream Blushers

I love a cream blush! I have oily skin, but personally I feel cream blush sticks to the skin longer rather than powder that easily wears off. On the left you have Nars PennyLane which is a delicate pink with a slight sheen. This is such a pretty blush that's so subtle on the skin.
In the middle is Chantecaille Aqua blush in the colour Enchanting. This is a bright pink colour that turns to powder on the skin and does not budge! It feels like cold water gliding onto your skin that drys to a matte touch. This is perfect for the summertime, being by the pool or beach because this will not come off till you remove it with a cleanser. Last but not least is Stila Convertible Colour in Gerbera, which is a bright peach shade, really gorgeous on tanned skin. This one is the creamiest of them all and can feel a bit sticky if not set with powder. Gives a lovely pop of colour to the cheeks.

Powder Blushers

Mac Warm Soul is pretty much a universal favourite, but it really is gorgeous! It transforms into a pinky bronze shade on the skin that looks sunkissed and natural. It makes you glow.
At the top is Bobbi Brown Apricot which unlike its name, is a bright cool tone matte pink, perfect for winter days or if you need a bit of a pick me up. This makes cheeks look healthy and fresh.
Last is BareMinerals Ready blush in The Aphrodisiac. This is a peachy/pink shade with a slight sparkle, again really pretty, being BareMinerals it packed full of skin loving ingredients. Its so soft and smooth it just glides on leaving you with peachy keen cheeks.

Check out my video below to see swatches :-)

Have you got a favourite bronzer or blusher? I would love to know.

Thank you for stopping by :-)

My Bag & OOTD

Hello lovelies, happy Monday!! I am always intrigued what is in other peoples bags. What do they carry around on a daily basis and what on earth to I have in my bag!
I think I usually carry around a bunch of useless items, but having gone through it, I'm quite pleased with what I have and I use and need all those things. I am loving my new blue Zara bag, its so summery and bright and goes with alot of my outfits I'm wearing at the moment. I love how this has as small zip pocket at the back where I can easily access my house keys and oyster card. I like minimum faff when it comes to bags. I like enough space that I can fill it up should I need to and a good amount of compartments to put things like my powder and mirror.

For my outfit of the day, I paired a floaty, polker dot dress from Hollister with some metal gold detailed sandals from Dune and some fun jewellery from Forever 21. This clutch is from All Saints and still keeps the outfit casual.

For my nails I am just obsessed with China Glaze Pool Party! This is as neon as it gets baby!

Check out my what's in my bag video below and my shoddy attempt of filming OOTD!!
Hey at least I give you a laugh if nothing else haha :-)

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

Hello lovelies! Well this mascara was love at first swipe. I am totally swooning over this! At £22 it's pretty expensive, but it does give you doll eyes for sure. It gives me long, fluttery lashes without clumping and weighing them down. It lifts and separates for super long and defined lashes. The wand is cone shaped ensuring a wide eyed, fanned out lash effect. My first high end mascara in a long time.

My Favourite Self-Tanners

Hello lovelies, now that the summer is upon us its time to break out the old self tanner!
I am so pale I'm almost transparent! So as not to shock myself I like to start off with a gradual tanner. These are moisturisers with a hint of self tan, really easy peasy to use especially when you are just starting out or haven't used self- tan before. I always choose a medium to dark because although I want to tan gradually I would like to see some effect sooner rather than later.
I just love Jergens Natural Glow and recently Garnier Summerbody which is amazing!
Now if you are a tanning aficionado or just want a super dark tan, Xen-Tan Moroccan Tan is the one for you. This is a weekly self-tan and when I say its dark, it is dark! It's not called Moroccan tan for nothing! You have to apply this with gloves or a mitt because it will stain your hands something awful and no matter how many times you wash them it won't come out for days! I'm talking full on terracotta hands! You must exfoliate like with any self-tan, and prep knees and elbows. I feel like this takes alot of concentration and tact to not make it streaky. It's a very syrupy texture which works best with long sweeps rather than circular motions It provides a deep instant colour, paraben free, quick drying and contains collagen building peptides. I find this really hard to apply without being streaky, but the colour pay off is superb.
I'm quite satisfied with my gradual. I do however enjoy the Lancome Flash Bronzer Dream Legs
this is an instant spray tan for legs. It is a lovely golden shimmer colour which makes legs look near perfect. It's really easy to use and gives sun starved pins a boost.

Do you use self-tan? what are some of your favourites?

My Summer Foundation Routine- Sweat Proof Makeup

Hello lovelies here is my new summer foundation routine! This is going to be my go to summer essentials! I wanted to test this out, so yesterday I got up put my makeup on at 9am, got on the tube to go to my parents house in Surrey. Went for a pub lunch with my little sister and my mum. Sunbathed in the garden till 5pm. Went to the cinema as it was orange Wednesday so two for one cinema tickets and two for one at Pizza Express!! what a deal, even got two for one on the dough balls! result!!
Then my sister dropped me off at the station, I got home at just after 11pm and no joke my face was still intact! No shine, no smudging,no wearing off ! I am impressed!! Usually I'm a shiny beast by noon. This seriously is the best combination of products I have ever used. I swear by mineral make-up in the summer because it literally sticks to your skin whereas liquid foundation will melt regardless of how matte it is and how much powder you put on top. So all in all I am ecstatic with this routine!!

Aveda Invati Three Step System- solutions for thinning hair

Hello lovelies!! Today's post is all about Aveda's newest creations for thinning hair which claims to reduce hair loss by 33%
I have very thin, fine hair which often comes out when brushing so I was really excited to try this out. I am a huge fan of Aveda products and believe they do what they say,I mean for the price you would hope they would.
Aveda says: Thicker, fuller hair is yours with our 97% naturally derived Invati system. Powered by ancient Ayurvedic wisdom fused with 21st century technology,it contains densiplex, an invigorating blend of Ayurvedic herbs that helps power Invati.
Here's how it works: Invati Exfoliating Shampoo removes build up that can clog pores and renews the scalp with wintergreen-derived salicylic acid.It has turmeric and ginseng which helps energise and rehabilitate the scalp around the follicles. It smells amazing, but if you're not into herbal scents you may not care for it, its very pungent.

Next is the Invati Thickening Conditioner which restores strength and improves hair elasticity, reducing breakage, with arginine derived from sugar beets and soy protein. It's specifically targeted for use on your scalp as well as ends. So you massage this into your scalp for about a minute or two before rinsing. It doesn't make your roots greasy at all. Leaves hair soft, shiny and detangled.

The last step in the programme, is the Invati Scalp Revitalizer which also contains densiplex, with turmeric and genseng, helps energise and revitalise the scalp around the follicles when massaged in.
It says to use this twice a day, spray eight times on each side of the head and massage into the scalp. This will not make your hair greasy at all, infact it gives it some volume and freshness.

For maximum results you really need to use all three in conjunction with eachother. I have been using this system for two months and I am on my second bottle of shampoo. It has made my hair feel clean and healthy and somewhat thicker straight after I have used it. I am still seeing a bit of fallout of hair when I brush. I wouldn't say its given me a full head of thick hair but its definitely made it feel a bit healthier and stronger. I will keep on using it for now.

Ok now for the prices!!

Exfoliating Shampoo    £19.50   200ml
  Thickening Conditioner  £21.50  200ml
Scalp Revitalizer           £43.00  150ml

OOTD Summer Casual

Jacket Vila,   Tank Primark,  Jeggings American Eagle,  Bag Zara,Shoes,  Sketchers Go Walk

Hello lovelies, here in the UK the sun has finally decided to show up for more than an hour a day!
So I thought it's about time to get my summer clothes into gear!
I am loving blue and white and this jacket is one of my favourites at the moment. Its smart but also very casual, which I like. I managed to move on from my beloved leggings to jeggings! I love these pink ones from American Eagle, they are super comfy and ofcourse stretchy which is a must for me. There is nothing worse than being squished into a tight pair of jeans unable to breathe.
I've got my trusted Primark tank top on and my brand new purchase, my Zara bag.
My shoes, oh my gosh are amazing!!They are the Sketcher Go Walk, they are literally the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are super light weight and really bendy. They are supposed to move with the natural movements of your foot and mold to your shape so it gives you the most natural walking experience without you putting unnecessary pressure on your feet.

Thanks for stopping by :-) what are some of your favourite summer outfits?

New Hair Cut and Colour!!

Hello lovelies!! So I finally decided to get my hair cut and coloured after about 6 months of doing absolutely nothing with it!! I go through this all natural phase, were I suddenly want to grow my roots out and never colour my hair again. Well sometimes you just have to do what suites you and blonde, shoulder length hair suites me.
I always go to Headmasters in Guildford on a 'Me Monday' this service includes a whole head of highlights, cut/style and blow dry for £99. Headmasters is the only place I know that does this, that's pretty good for what you are getting. Most salons charge well over £100 just for half a head!! I refuse to pay that much, with Me Monday I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

I have three colours put in, two brown tones and a light blonde. The darker tones were concentrated underneath my hair, with the blonde mainly on top and on the sides.
I had it cut in a long bob with it slightly shorter at the back. Its clean, tidy and fuss free. I love it!!

Thank you for stopping by! Let my know about your hair, are you happy with it? or do you fancy a change?
